Dunja Mijatović (BaH) named OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media

 

Vienna, 11 March 2010 - The 56 OSCE participating States appointed Dunja Mijatović from Bosnia and Herzegovina as the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. Mijatović was appointed for a three-year term that can be renewed once.
She replaced the Hungarian Miklos Haraszti and was selected among the six candidates from Austria, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Russian federation, Georgia and BaH. Mijatović is a recognized press freedom promoter. She is an expert on media and communications legislation, who has gained her experiences by working for several European agencies. The participating States welcomed her appointment and expressed their support in promoting full compliance with the OSCE principles and commitments in respect of freedom of expression and free media.
